Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, as well as the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string, to help detect spam.

An anonymized string generated from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

Visitors cannot upload images or other media files to this site. All media on this site is uploaded and managed by the site owner.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site, you may opt in to saving your name, email address, and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so you do not have to enter your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

Embedded Content from Other Websites

Articles and pages on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, podcast players, images, or other media. Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if you visited the other website directly.

These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third‑party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction if you have an account and are logged in to that website (for example, YouTube, Spotify, or Instagram).

Newsletters and Contact Forms

If you choose to subscribe to my newsletter, the name and email address you provide are collected and stored by my email service provider for the purpose of sending you updates, book news, podcast information, and related content. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link included in each email.

If you contact me by email using the addresses listed on this site, I will receive the information you choose to send (for example, your name, email address, and the contents of your message). I use this information only to respond to your inquiry or to manage the communication you have requested. Your IP address will be included in the reset email.

Who We Share Your Data With

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How Long Do We Retain Your Data?

If comments are enabled and you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This helps us recognize and approve any follow‑up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For administrative users with accounts on this site, we store the personal information they provide in their user profiles. Administrators can see, edit, or delete that information at any time (except they cannot change their username).

Newsletter subscription data is retained for as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your email address may remain in the system in an inactive state so we can honor your request not to be contacted.

What Rights Do You Have Over Your Data

If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request an export of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where Your Data is Sent

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
